Technologist for hire

Hi, my name is Lovell, and I might be able to help you.

Broad knowledge

I have over 25 years' commercial, Internet-related software development experience.

Everything from building physical servers to using serverless architectures.

It's quite likely you've used software I've been involved with, or at least seen the output.

I work with others to help solve problems

Either by joining an existing team or helping you to form a new one.

Available to work on-site in London and/or remotely.

I enjoy coaching others in both technical and people management skills.

What do I care about?

Quality, using tools such as test-driven development.

Sustainability in software and hardware.

Information security, store only what you need, grant minimal privileges.

Performance, but not at the cost of solving the right problem as simply as possible.

In what environments do I work best?

Smaller organisations that are growing sustainably.

Larger organisations where teams are given autonomy to improve the processes.

Iterative development, short feedback loops and work-in-progress limits are usually a good sign.

Who have I helped?

Previous clients are involved in many sectors, including retail, advertising, finance and publishing.

Common skills used most recently include full-stack JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, DevOps and cloud-based deployments.

Some of my principles

Listen to the people who need something.

Solve the right problems in the right order.

Keep it as simple as possible.

Don't stop learning.

Try to have fun.
